Crusaders Great Helm Trash Bin

Tuesday, April 30, 2013

The Crusades of the past were not exactly the brightest spots in the history of the church, especially when children were enlisted to fight the Pope’s wars, as different people groups went up against one another’s throats in the name of religion. Well, there is no point in moping about the past if you are not going to learn from it, which is where this cute looking $49.99 Crusaders Great Helm Trash Bin comes in handy. After all, bad things should be remembered for history’s sake but discarded, and what better way to represent that other than the use of a trash bin?

The Crusaders Great Helm Trash Bin depicts a 12th century helm shape that will also resonate with folks who are fans of all things medieval , and it has been transformed into a trash can. Made out of cast resin, it has been finished in faux metal style. Surely this is not going to be able to withstand the blows of an axe or a two-handed sword, but on the other hand, you can be sure that rust would not be an issue with the Crusaders Great Helm Trash Bin. I can foresee kids putting this on their heads during play time, and keep my fingers crossed that they do not do so while there is still trash within.

The Un-Coolest Gadget Is…

Saturday, April 27, 2013

For as many cool gadgets there are in the world there are plenty of gadget failures. We all probably invested in Betamax, Laserdisc or some other technology that didn’t take off. Sounded like a great idea at the time, right? The famous UK TV program The Gadget Show recently polled 1000 viewers to determine the biggest gadget disaster of all time. Some were good technology, but were executed poorly and competitors pounced. Some were ridiculous technology that customers never adopted. But they all have one thing in common – they failed.

The winner of this not-so-prestigious title? The Sinclair C5 battery and pedal powered three-wheeler, launched in the mid 80s. Yep, you don’t see many of those on the roads. Nor did you ever as they only sold 20,000 units. Other gadget fails to make the list include Betamax, Sega Game Gear, Pizza Scissors and Rabbit mobile phones. OK, so maybe requiring a sort of receiver box in proximity to the phone wasn’t the greatest idea. But the company went on to become Orange – so they have seen their fair share of success. View the top 10 list of gadget on the Daily Mirror’s site and think about these fails the next time you ante up for new gadgets.

AT-AT Bunk Bed

Friday, April 26, 2013

I know, I know, some of us are still pretty upset that Disney has bought over Lucasfilm, and along with it, the crown jewel that is the eternal cash cow known as the Star Wars franchise. Will we see Mickey Mouse cross over into the Star Wars universe sometime down in Episode 7? I do not think so, but who knows what the future might bring in the realm of cartoons? After all, Space Jam saw the amalgamation of Michael Jordan and the rest of the Looney Tunes cast, didn’t it? This unique AT-AT bunk bed is definitely worth checking out, especially if you are a huge fan of the Star Wars universe.

There is a flight of stairs that leads up to the AT-AT, while it would be ideal to place a couch or sofa under the AT-AT bunk bed, complete with a bookshelf attached to the wall so that you are able to catch up on your Star Wars fan fiction before retiring for the night. Good thing this AT-AT bunk bed is stationary, otherwise a wayward A-Wing might just wrap its legs around with an extremely tough wire, tripping you up. Now that would certainly be a nightmare to sleep on, wouldn’t it?

Speaker Blanket offers warm comfort

Thursday, April 25, 2013

You know the general rule when it comes to getting a good night’s sleep – having a cool head and warm feet works best, and what better way to ensure that your feet as well as the rest of your body remains nice and toasty other than to cover it with a decent blanket? Of course, some of us live in extremely cold countries, where a blanket alone will not do the trick, but generally speaking, the average blanket ought to be able to get the job done for a decent night’s rest. Well, the £34.99 Speaker Blanket does more than keep your body warm during those cold nights, as its name suggests, it also comes with a pair of built-in speakers to pump out your favorite winding down music so that you can drift off to dreamland sooner than you count to 99 sheep.

The Speaker Blanket will run on a solitary AA battery, and there is an integrated 3.5mm headphone jack for you to hook it up to a decent pair of headphones just in case there are others in the same room who might not appreciate your eclectic selection of music that you use to relax. It would have been nice to see a Bluetooth-enabled version of the Speaker Blanket, but I guess that the lack of this feature right now would just leave the door open for a decent sequel sometime down the road.

Satechi BT Touch Speaker

Wednesday, April 24, 2013

Bluetooth enabled speakers are dime a dozen, and these seem to proliferate just about anywhere and every accessory shop that you go to. Having said that, it would also mean it is more challenging to select the right kind of Bluetooth enabled speakers, considering the vast choice that there is available to the average consumer. This calls for a more discerning eye, and with the Satechi BT Touch Speaker, you know that your ears will be treated to quality sounds without having to break the bank.

The Satechi BT Touch Speaker would come across as a compact and portable Bluetooth speaker which has been touted to be ideal for both office and travel use. It is capable of delivering powerful, dynamic sound, despite its relatively small size, of course. This is yet further proof of not judging a book by its cover, or in this case, the quality of audio by the speaker’s size. This small yet mighty Satechi BT Touch Speaker is said to have the ability to fill a room with crystal clear audio thanks to its 2.5 X 2 watt dual-channel speaker system. The presence of a built-in microphone also enables the speaker to double up as a hands-free calling device which will play nice with just about any smartphone these days, as long as they support Bluetooth connectivity, that is.

Good design principles are not compromised or forgotten either with the Satechi BT Touch Speaker, where it sports a glossy, sleek black look that ought to find a place in any office aesthetic. The speaker itself will boast of modern, blue LED touch buttons which are able to control audio playback, volume and answer calls. Not only that, the extra features that were thrown into the mix include a rechargeable lithium ion battery as well as a built-in 3.5mm jack so that it can handle legacy, non-Bluetooth enabled devices. Right now, the Satechi BT Touch Speaker is going for an introductory price of $49.99 a pop.
